Donovan Mele & Perrino: Music
CHRISTMAS EYES (intro)
(Mark Cargill, Greg Cook, Janelle Donovan)
December 21, 2009
Greg Cook, Mark Cargill, Janelle Donovan
I don't really believe that you good folks reading the story behind this song really need an explanation. People all around us are struggling just the same, and, in the same gesture, during this season of peace and good will to all people, I find a need for respite from all the "blame" we hear cast about. For myself, if I focus on the moment, and express gratitude for the loving people surrounding me, I receive in return the spiritual medicine I need sometimes.
May you find whatever path works for you to bring more peace and joy into your life.
Love
Janelle
CHRISTMAS EYESLyrics: Janelle DonovanCopyright TONErecordsWhat do I want for Christmas? You ask me with a frownAnd I can see the money’s got you downSo you try to explain itAs if it were your faultCarrying that burden must be so coldPeople all around usAre struggling just the sameWhat if for this momentWe left out all the blame?I love your Christmas eyes. They are my treasureThe truest light on earth,I’ve ever knownAnd the steady fire that I find thereWarms our little homeWithin your Christmas eyesI find the measureOf all the goodThat we’ve been blessed to knowAnd the loving sparkleThat I find thereShines with an angel glowAnd a star from long agoGives me light to seeHe sent you here for meWhat is it about ChristmasThat we feel our greatest needs?Does it open up our heart and plant a seed? There’s no way to explain itHow that seed grows into loveRaising up our spiritsIn ways we’d never dreamed ofPeople all around usAre searching for those waysThat’s why I took your hands in mineAnd took the time to say...Chorus repeat and add outro belowSo let your Christmas eyesCelebrate our lifelet them shine, shine tonight!
