Donovan Mele & Perrino: Music

Christmas Eyes (outro)

(Cook, Cargill, Donovan)
December 4, 2009
Greg Cook, Mark Cargill, Janelle Donovan

This is the first of the new songs written by Greg Cook, Mark Cargill and I her in LA. I couldn't sing this song without getting emotional. It really speaks to me about what is important in life. AND you get to hear a tasty bit of Mark's violin work in this clip i chose. I hope you enjoy it.

CHRISTMAS EYES

Greg Cook, Mark Cargill, Janelle Donovan

TONErecords 2009

What do I want for Christmas?

You ask me with a frown

And I can see the money’s got you down

So you try to explain it

As if it were your fault

Carrying that burden must be so cold

People all around us

Are struggling just the same

What if for this moment/season

We left out all the blame?

I love your Christmas eyes.

They are my treasure

The truest light on earth,

 I’ve ever known

And the steady fire that I find there

Warms our little home

Within your Christmas eyes

I find the measure

Of all the good

That we’ve been blessed to know

And that cheerful / loving sparkle

 That I find there

Shines with an angel glow

And a star from long ago

Gives me light to see

He sent you here for me

What is it about Christmas

That we feel our greatest needs?

Does it open up our heart and plant a seed?

There’s no way to explain it

How that seed grows into love

Lifting up our burdens

In ways we’d never dreamed of

People all around us

Are searching for those ways

That’s why I took your hands in mine

And took the time to say...

Chorus repeat and add outro below

So let your Christmas eyes

 Celebrate our life

let them shine,

shine tonight!
